81. LOL. The camera kept adjusting bush's podium in the debates w/Kerry.
At least on the first night, I remember everyone laughing in the room because bush looked so short next to Kerry, even on the podium, and the camera kept adjusting him upward so there would be more podium and less bush in the picture, creating the odd effect that bush was equal height to Kerry.

Unfortunately, or fortunately, the camera jerked his image upward a little at a time and it was very noticeable.

The lesson here, folks, is that bush just doesn't measure up. ;)

Fascinating commentary, Leopold's Ghost. I am always intrigued by the manipulation of perception on a subconscious level, especially when used on mass audiences.

Watching the interview with Matt was astoundingly uncomfortable for me. It wasn't just bush's body language, and now I know why.
