thinks that these tapes, if they were real, would ever be made public... this is evidence and would be examined, not leaked to the public without context. so, for example, nothing happened at the millennium celebration does not mean nothing was supposed to happen, but rather, that if something was planned, it was stopped. so a responsible leadership would want to keep the public calm but also work behind the scenes with local law enforcement. this administration has no problem with tapes being played, without context, that could provide important intel information... in other words, this could be an Al Q tape, but we don't know how old it is, where it came from, what the context is, nothing. all we know is that "someone" gave to Al Jazeera and with that, it runs, and the administration points to it as a fear tool. for me, motive is the question. and no one I have ever spoken with - who in public has to explain things a certain way, has ever said in private, even when asked, that these are a). current, b). contextually accurate, c). or in any way beneficial to the AQ network, who does not need to advertise as their poster boy here is doing one hell of a job helping with recruitment.

think back to before Bush and tell me how money terror threats you saw live and in living color... were there no terror threats before Bush? of course there were, but my point is, that the question of motive does not make this beneficial to AQ, rather, to the Bush administration. i am not saying these are not real tapes, i am saying that we know nothing about the context of the tapes, their origin, or how old they are. and i find it highly irresponsible as well as prob. politically motivated that these things run the way they do like reality show.
