Bush has like a 24% popularity rating in Connecticut, however. So, them throwing such enthusiastic support to Lieberman could backfire in turning off moderates.

Last I saw, CT had about 900K registered indies; 700K registered Democrats; and 500K registered Republics.

So, they are appealing to the smallest slice of voters in CT and possibly turning off the largest bloc.
