it's less than 1% of the federal budget, and that includes what's going to Iraq as aid (not to pay for the war in Iraq). 1/3 of it goes to Israel. A full 58% goes to the Middle East, mostly to fight terrorism.

If you talk to him again, tell him we could cut off all foreign aid to all countries and it would pay for a couple of months of the war in Iraq. But ask him if he really wants to cut off Israel. And Iraq. And Egypt. And Afghanistan (the top 4 recipients). And if he really wants to cut of all funds for conflict resolution (military aid).
