My heart goes out to anyone forced to live where they don't really want to, as I am now. I was responding to whoever upthread had such an arrogant, holier-than-thou, judgmental attitude, dissing people who live in the country as "stupid" and not as good as s/he.

What about at least a smallish town for you, a single-story house with a little yard within wheeling distance of "downtown"? Just as an example, I love Maine and spent years in Orono/Old Town -- plenty of sidewalks and stores are easily accessible by anyone, and the houses (many rentals because of the university there) all have plenty of space for gardening. The cold winters there are not to everyone's liking, of course, but similar towns are everywhere.
