20. The FEAR thing is a wierd
and apparently extremely potent phenomenon for alot of Americans --- and Rove and Co. have brilliantly exploited it. On the day the latest London "terror plot" news story broke, an office colleague of mine (an educated woman who holds down a demanding corporate job) told me that she had an anxiety attack when she heard the news early that morning. She then said, "I started to cry on the train to work, because I was thinking that my kids and husband were still home asleep in bed and I never even said goodbye to them --- and what if I never see them again after today?" I did not know what to say to her --- I was just sort of stunned by this intense. fearful reaction/response. (And here I was thinking the whole thing sounded like another Sears Tower or Miami crock of crap, courtesy of the Bush/Blair "terra" mongers.) She was deadly serious during our conversation. I guess she was expecting Osama bin Laden to personally storm her house that very day and slit her childrens' throats while they were in bed. I have no doubts she voted for Bush in both presidential elections, convinced he and the Republicans were/are keeping her & her family more safe. This is what we are up against.
