It's like giving a party and inviting all your closest friends -- and then none of them show up. The carpets have been vacuumed, the chips and dip have all been laid out on the table, and you sit there, twiddling your thumbs and glancing at the clock until it finally dawns on you that they're not coming. The bottles of soda sit in the cooler, getting warm. The munchies, carefully prepared, begin to go limp. You look around and wonder what the room would look like with people in it. You catch a small tear in the corner of your eye, and wipe it away, before finally going to bed.

And then I remember my son in Iraq.

And then I remember how she was instrumental in placing that ignorant, arrogant, swaggering sack of rancid monkey nuts in the White House.

And then I don't feel sorry anymore.
