Disclaimer: I'm not saying this to flame.

I too am of Indian heritage (born here), I am an American. My parents became naturalized citizens of American (mid 60s, soon after Civil Rights passed I believe) , my dad died an American.

Allen had the nerve to welcome this young man to America, a person BORN in VA!! :p

Allen knew what he was saying. If he was looking for an Indian name he would have called him Gandhi or even Apu(Simpsons). He knew what he was saying.
