6. Carry-ons kill. Period.
As an ALPA (Air Line Pilots Association) airline accident investigator, I am aware of quite a few in-flight incidents where projectiles in the cabin (carry-ons) killed or maimed. Many more passengers have been killed or maimed in otherwise survivable crashes because of flying, unsecured projectiles in the cabin (including the darling little lap children that aren't quite precious enough for their parents to buy for them a regular seat with a regular seatbelt).

Don't get me started. Suffice it to say that three changes could greatly improve airline passenger survivability during hit-and-slide crashes (as opposed to hit-and-stick crashes, like into the side of a mountain): 1. BAN ALL CARRY-ON LUGGAGE; 2. BAN ALL LAP CHILDREN, and; 3. RECONFIGURE ALL AIRLINE PASSENGER CABINS WITH AFT (REARWARD) FACING SEATING.

Think about this. In the early days of airline travel, and into the jet age, the overhead bins were door-less and were called hat-racks. They were there for coats and hats only. The evolution of carry-ons has been a killer.
