21. People like you
literally, make me sick.
You have absolutely no insight on what it is to be poor in this country.
My husband let his driver's license lapse.
Call it laziness, call it ignorance...call it whatever you want to.
It was a truly foolish thing.
He had to produce 4 forms of identification in order to get it back.
We didn't have these forms of identification just lying around--how many 50 year olds have their birth certificates? Or their school records?
After jumping through hoops for 3 months or so--and a willingness to pay for archived birth certificates (and a credit card that was needed to pay for it in NY), school records and a marriage license...he finally got a Drivers License again.
So now, tell me how a poor person can whip out a credit card and pay for these things if they don't have one?
Many people don't renew their identification because of trivial matters-- outstanding traffic tickets, no liability insurance, etc., but since those are NOT felonies, it should not be a means to deny them a vote.
