We don't trust our government anymore.

For most of our lives, government was a benevolent force, owned and controlled ultimately by the people acting in unison, and trusted to use its authority in our best interests.

Now, ownership of the government has been stripped from us through election fraud and campaign brainwashing. And our government officials, who once valued openness and accountability, now lie to us and keep secrets from us. The bond of trust between the people and their government is gone.

Now, the government, stripped of accountability, is now capable of anything, so we start speculating as to what our officials are doing. Whatever they are doing, we're pretty certain they are NOT acting in our best interests anymore.
