I believe the police staff at that building did not like her because of who she is and used their limited power to demean her by asking for her credentials routinely.

By asking for her credentials they were telling her that she did not belong, and that no matter what her position they had power over her.

I'll bet they bragged about it in their lunch room and plotted their actions. And she knew it and got fed up. And responded inappropriately.

And her response cost her the election because the Bush propaganda machine (ie the press) use every opportunity and exaggerate ten-fold to make the left look crazy (Howard Dean, Bill Clinton, now Cynthia Mckinney.)

You suggest: "Shut up and take it." That is the response the neo-cons hope for. And usually get by people who do not see the bigger picture and the grand design (or vast conspiracy).
