30. Damn... 2004 seems like yesterday
and here we were back then, thinking that America had gone completely psycho.

Well, it DID go psycho for a while, even the polls making it seem as if we were out to sea on some flimsy lifeboat while the nutjobs ran the MotherShip into a freakin' melting glacier.

Two years later and the American public has caught up with us. They may not have all the info we have here at DU, but they know they've tapped out all their home equity and lost their decent jobs and health care and that they can't even afford to put gas in the Toyota. They don't need all the details. They are sick of struggling and they are fed up with war.

I took a moment today to reflect on how far we've come. Most people I meet or talk to - in Tennessee - feel the same way as I do. It's so gratifying to know that I can trust Americans to "get it."

Now, if my party can just sieze this moment and make it matter. Hopefully Lamont's win will embolden the party. Or at least light some fires under a few asses.

We've come a long way, DU! :toast:
