60. What coalition?
The coalition of the easily suckered? But you're right, she owns NY: NY1, the cable TV station that's set an arbitrary rule of $500K either spent or raised, for participation in the senatorial debate on Aug 22, is owned by Time Warner Cable. Tasini's the only candidate who's not invited. TWC PAC has, so far, given $101,000 to candidate Clinton (check it out on http://www.opensecrets.org/politicians/contrib.asp?CID=N00000019&cycle=2006). Seems to me as though a) the "debate" is an endorsement of Clinton, b) lots of TW employees obviously gave their bit, c) therefore Clinton sure does literally own NY. The media is the message, etc. Problem is, is the Clinton Machine what we want in NY? What happened to a fair playing field, where you and I can hear what each candidate has to say? And how about ISSUES rather than MONEY as arbiter of political discourse? Remember Connecticut: one down, one more to go!
