Last night, Mr Whittington suffered a heart attack when one of the gun shot pellets which wounded him travelled to his heart and he is now back in intensive care.
And as John Shovelan reports from Washington, this deterioration in Mr Whittington's condition has prompted the White House to send its own cardiologists to help treat him.
