However, I must compliment you, if that's appropriate here, for the overall of effect those disgusting quotes you have assembled. The Barbara Bush and Rick Santorum ones in particular are real stomach-turners. How utterly vile. How can anyone with a lick of common sense take these people for either compassionate, decent, or intelligent?


I do have a lot of really appalling quotes from the likes of Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-CA), Treasury Secretary John Snow, George W. Bush, and Allan Hubbard, Bush's economic adviser. The latter has some truly nauseating quotes regarding employer-provided health care coverage. Basically, the administration's stance has been to imply that Americans who are in HMOs and PPOs through workplace coverage think their care is "free" (Yes, the administration uses those words) and that they are therefore too quick to use medical care and not inclined to go hunting for the best price.

Yes, the administration talks that way, as though bypass surgery or pathology fees for your biopsy were, say, a pound of tomatoes for which one wants the best bargain.

My problem is getting links to the quotes, because they don't always show up on official sites or in news coverage, but rather transcripts of events. I'll search around, but do remind me if I forget to get back to you.
