because I figured there had to be an interesting story behind it. After all Nixon did to him, it's absolutely amazing that Kerry would shake hands with him. Although I knew about the enemies list and Nixon's paranoia, I never heard how he had told his people to destroy Kerry and that he literally meant that even though he knew that Kerry was a clean cut war hero who was actually trying to work within the system and probably influenced others to do so too.

In retrospect, if Nixon was at all sorry, Kerry made a BIG mistake - He should have asked Nixon to put in writing any apology. It would have been useful last August.
