2. Who has the edge?
From the Ft. Worth Star-Telegram:

Big recruiting pitch
Utah: Scenic view of Wasatch and Oquirrh Mountains
TCU: 58 percent of students are females
Edge: TCU. Duh. Which scenic view do you think recruits prefer?

Trophy plays for each year
Utah: Beehive Boot (vs. in-state schools)
TCU: Iron Skillet (vs. SMU)
Edge: TCU. One skillet is much more useful than one boot.

Largest crowd this season
Utah: 58,017 at Oregon (lost 31-24)
TCU: 70,000 at Clemson (won 14-10)
Edge: TCU. Bigger crowd and better result.

Year school founded
Utah: 1850
TCU: 1873
Edge: TCU. More modern.

Most famous alums to play in the NFL
Utah: Jamal Anderson, Alex Smith, Larry Wilson
TCU: Sammy Baugh, Bob Lilly, Davey O’Brien
Edge: TCU. Two Hall of Famers (Baugh, Lilly) to Utes’ one (Wilson).

Did LaDainian Tomlinson attend school there?
Utah: No
TCU: Yes
Edge: TCU. The next Hall of Famer.

First line of school fight song
Utah: I’m a Utah Man, sir, and I live across the green.
TCU: We’ll raise a song, both loud and long.
Edge: TCU. Not gender exclusive, although we like Utah’s golf course reference.

Stadium namesake
Utah: Eccles-Rice Stadium named for a banker and a health club pioneer.
TCU: Amon G. Carter Stadium named for founder of the Star-Telegram.
Edge: TCU. We admit: We’re a homer on this pick.

Do the school’s fans e-mail us when we pick against their team?
Utah: No
TCU: Yes
Edge: TCU. See, we do read all those e-mails.

Sources: TCU, Utah and SMU sports information publications.
