As I said on the other thread. There's hardly ever been a politician who didn't think that he could do the job better if he just never had to face the electorate.

IT WAS A FUCKING JOKE.

That's certainly the spin afterwards. But there was no indication that it was a joke at the time... and it doesn't read like a joke (or "hyperbole").
