10. You're probably talking about March 2006 when Shamos refused
to certify Sequoia DREs for use in Pennsylvania. That sent Allegheny County (Pittsburgh) scrambling to buy ES&S iVotronic DREs with just a few weeks left before the May 2006 primary.

I don't know what Shamos is saying after the November election but right up to it and for the last couple of years he has been an energetic opponent of paper and proponent of paperless DREs. He's also the guy who put up the $10,000 DRE hack challenge in August 2004, betting that no one could hack into a DRE chosen by him (http://euro.ecom.cmu.edu/HackingChallenge.htm).
