Mouse movement makes program run faster From: Cheryl Bellucci
Category: General Xenia, United States
Version: Visual FoxPro 6 Date: April 1, 2004

We are running a program that throws a form to the screen, allows the user to click a start button. At that time, the program processes. Right now I am using a series of radio buttons to show what the program is doing, along with a text box that displays the last Transaction ID that has been processed.

When running this program on XP, we noticed that the program processes faster when the mouse is moved over the form (happy accident). The mouse doesn't have to be moved quickly, just moved. One of our co-workers said that in XP, the mouse generates hardware interrupts that override software interrupts, so that any program someone is actively working on will take priority over something running in the background.

That makes sense. Can anyone confirm that? Also, if that is true, is there anyway to "fake" the mouse movements while the process is running?

Thanks!
