Rona Ambrose says spotted owl is not in danger of extinction

The only story I found, though CBC had one on the radio... is from CKNW

VANCOUVER/CKNW(AM980) - The spotted owl is on the brink of extinction, and the Federal Government is doing nothing to help.
That from several concerned environmental groups.

Gwen Barlee with the Western Canada Wilderness Committee says she's shocked that the Federal Government is apparently refusing to protect the northern spotted owl, which she says number only 17 in all of Canada.

In a letter sent to the Wilderness Committee and other groups, Federal Environment Minister Rona Ambrose writes that after reviewing documents, she believes the spotted owl does not currently face threats to its survival or recovery.

Barlee says this is simply wrong, "You know, if the spotted owl, isn't endangered at just 17 birds left, what species is endangered in Canada?"

Barlee says the Wilderness Committee may go to court to review the Minister's decision.

Ambrose actually said, "The owl is in no imminent danger."

THERE'S ONLY 17 LEFT YOU DUMB FUCKING COW!!!!
