from Illinois Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty:

Wednesday, January 12

This is it, folks. Yesterday, the State Senate passed SB 3539, joining the State House in Illinois in supporting abolition of the death penalty.

NOW, WE NEED YOU TO CALL GOVERNOR PAT QUINN! His signature is required to finally bring the days of capital punishment in Illinois to an end. You can call 217-782-6830 and leave a message letting Governor Quinn know how excited and happy you are that Illinois is moving in the direction of ending capital punishment, and that you would ask him to sign the bill. Keep it positive!

Below, you can send an email message to Governor Quinn as well, and thank The Champions of Repeal, State Representative Karen Yarbrough and State Senator Kwame Raoul.

Remember, our bill, SB 3539, takes the savings from death penalty abolition and invests in law enforcement training and services for victims and their families. Please make the call, at 217-782-6830, and send an email through the form below.

Thank you!!
