Although that's part it of it. If Scaife signals that he wants to meet with you, you have to do it. Period.

Remember when Obama didn't meet with the editor of the gay paper who asked him for an interview? Segments of the gay community went ballistic and were calling for gays to abandon Obama because he dissed them.

Scaife is much more powerful than the tiny gay paper in Philly. Like him or not, you have to deal with him.

I'm not a Hillary supporter, but I know where this is coming from. I was a journalist for many years and even people we opposed and beat on had to make the pilgrimage to see us when they were running. They couldn't afford not to.

If you were running, you would be free to choose political suicide in order to maintain your high principles, and I would too. I would kick Scaife in the nuts if I had the opportunity. But that's why I'm not running for president and never would. That and the fact I refuse to decorate myself with flags and pretend I'm a Christian.
