The idea behind the personal narratives is to reclaim "values" politics from the Republican Party, said Marshall Ganz, a one-time labor organizer for Cesar Chavez and the United Farm Workers who developed "Camp Obama" training sessions for volunteers. (from the link above)

"We are a movement that builds and not destroys," said Cesar Chavez. As an organizer, his life's work was to help ordinary people create a better life for themselves through unionizing, non-violent protest, and political action.

Aiding in this struggle was Marshall Ganz. He worked with Chavez for over sixteen years organizing with the United Farm Workers. Forty years ago he organized a Get Out the Vote campaign for Robert F. Kennedy during the California primary. Through this effort, he was able to help Kennedy win the states highly contested primary.

He sees today a clear comparison between Robert F. Kennedy and Barack Obama...
