45. Why would a MUSLIM democracy be a thorn to Iran?

Iran *is* a Muslim democracy. They have parties, elections and everything. In fact, prior to our conquering Iraq, the progressive party was in power in Iran. Following that, the conservative party swept to power on an anti-US campaign using the same fear tactics as conservatives here in the United States.

Oh, yeah, I guess that WOULD be a bad thing for Iran. I guess I see your point.

But your facts are still off. Iran *is* a Muslim democracy. And while Turkey, Lebanon and Palestine are secular, not Muslim, they are democracies in the Middle East with Muslim majority populations.

And really, wouldn't SECULAR democracies in Muslim countries be a thorn in the side of the Islamists? In fact, haven't the Islamists made it plain they don't care what you call the head of the government, Caliph or President, or how he is selected as long as his powers are limited by the Quran, etc? Doesn't Iran prove that?
