40. The common mistake made
by Democrats is that when they know something, they assume everyone else knows it as well. It's like the teacher who's been at his job too long and makes assumptions regarding what his kids "should know". There are definite reasons why certain conepts are not grasped.

I'd say the bulk of the citizens in this country don't see the media as skewing rightward. There is still a great deal of Americans that don;t vote or take and interesting this stuff. Many voters are just casual observers.

There is much to right wing mantra that makes it difficult for liberals to break through the ice. Take poor people for example. Poverty in this country is seen as a sin and being poor often reflects on the individual as being "lazy". Poor people are often taught to blame themselves and often blame others of their ilk for their poverty. Right Wingers with their media machine have done an outstanding job of pushing capitalism as an egalitarian system that just requires you to work hard in order to get ahead. Class conciousness is demonized as Class Warfare even thought it's the uppercrust that has declared it.

It's increasingly difficult to work on that front when the right trys to paint capitalism as this egalitiarian system. The same can be said of terrorism when "weak on terrorism" is viewed as anything that doesnt include bombs. Even to say that the War on Terror is a ridiculous idea.

There is a long way to go.
