Is Harry Reid afraid of Jack Carter? You decide and let me know...

I find this behavior despicable on the part of Reid. Having met both of them, Jack Carter lacks Reid's arrogance. And in reality, I have felt since the beginning of 2004 that Reid did what he could to sabotage John Kerry in Nevada. Too many "long time Democrats" and close friends of Reid from my area voted for Bush. And the Dem Party in Nevada sucks for the most part, under Reid's guidance. Gee, I wonder why?

From the Las Vegas Gleaner:

04/24/2006
Harry Reid when he's at home
When Sen. Harry Reid told Senate candidate Jack Carter to hush during a press conference at the Nevada Democratic Convention Saturday, it was not the first time Reid had snubbed Carter. It wasn't even the first time that day.

In case you didn't hear, after LA Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa's keynote speech Saturday, Villaraigosa, Reid, Jack Carter, Rep. Shelley Berkley and a gaggle of reporters wandered into a side room for a little "press conference." There was no podium, no mic-packed lectern, no cameras or klieg lights. It was just some politicians and a few writers standing around in the middle of a room, which is to say it was all pretty informal and laid back. Villaraigosa and Reid were answering questions about universal health care (exactly the type of bold and necessary public policy initiative that Harry Reid is guaranteed to treat like the weather, i.e, he'll talk about it, but he's not going to do anything about it) when Jack Carter began to render an observation. Reid wheeled around and tersely told Carter "OK, Jack, we're doing the press conference, OK?" as if Reid was talking to a child who was interrupting the grown-ups' conversation.

Earlier in the morning, during his own speech to the convention, Reid's reference to Carter amounted to an acknowledgment that Carter was running for Senate. And that's it -- an acknowledgment. Oh, Reid waxed fondly about the great gains Democrats would be making in the Senate this year, and reeled off the Democratic target states -- Pennsylvania, Ohio, Rhode Island, Missouri, Montana, Tennessee, Arizona. But he didn't mention Nevada. And fair enough, because almost nobody has included Nevada in the category of seats that Democrats have a chance of winning.
