He's the guy that rounds up the peasants, hands them their regulation torches and pitchforks, and has them go burn down the castle and torch the occupants - on theory there's a monster lurking there somewhere.

He's the guy who calmly circulates disinformation and calculated hysteria designed to provoke violence and rioting and lasting hatred.

He's the sociopath who sees exactly what IS not what SHOULD BE, and he's not afraid to use it in the most cynical way possible.

In other regimes, he would be drawing up plans to "re-educate" the jews, to send the literati into the killing fields "to work the farms" and personally handing out little blue plastic bags to suffocate anyone who disagrees with him.

You want a "monster" - Karl Rove is that thing.
