I think that too many of these references are to opening the right-side of the tent. On the left, there are many, many who are left out in the cold. I would like that side opened up, and for the populists and progressives and greenies to come in. I believe that true "centrist" Democrats are open-minded and would welcome them.

I think that the leftist-christian message of peace, love, and tolerance is a welcome addition to the secular portion of the party who advocates exactly the same goals for different reasons. The ones who do not wish peace, love, and tolerance are the odd-balls in the party, imho (ahem....Zell). Ostensibly we have too many of these odd-balls trying to close the tent off to the ones who are natural allies.
