27. A symbol of the blood on their hands
In the NYT today, as they buried a guy who died while voting, they said his blood just about matched his voting finger.

That sort sorta broke my heart. The quote that one of them said they wanted to have this election so that the Americans would leave. But I doubt we're leaving. Those poor people. If we don't leave, watch the "insurgents" grow. Oh yeah, sure, they're all from outside the country, uh huh. Sure, they're all Al Quida (sp?).

That's actually what a woman who was in the Army told me yesterday. She believes that while the Sunnis are not happy, the ones actually fighting are Saddam's old guard and Al Quida.
