Just as a reminder that these people were incredibly hard working people, primarily young, idealistic, and on both sides were doing for the most part what they thought was in the best interest for the country.

During the Primary and the General Election I had the fine opportunity to work with many of these individuals. Generally speaking they were at the office by 8 and left anywhere between 11pm to 3am depending what was going on. They generally got an average of anywhere between 4-6 hours a sleep during the week and almost none on the weekends when things were most busy.

These were the organizers...now I can't imagine what it was like for the people that were working above that level. I'm pretty sure they were on constant call espicially if you were a speech writer. Events in the world happen at lightning speed and the person who prepares remarks for the candidates needs to be able to provide the candidate with ideas on how to frame their views the next day. They have to be knowledgeable about what just happened and the background to prevent the candidate for making a costly gaffe that will overshadow the candidate's message for that news cycle.

So if a 27 year old gifted speech writer when he found sometime to unwind did something stupid with a cardboard cutout of the candidate he had to write speeches for months about that hurt no one other than the fact it was tasteless I think we should cut the guy some slack.

This isn't April anymore. President Elect Obama and Secretary of State designee Clinton literally work together not for a Campaign but for us. There aren't political points or gotcha's to be made.

Not making excuses but trying to put things in perspective and that's all I have to say about that.
