Let's take it a step further. Let's suppose the old fart was advocating the same remedies that caused you to suffer the heart attack in the first place. Would you go with the old fart because the young guy went to a dinner with somebody you don't approve of?

This guilt by association game doesn't make the slightest bit of sense.
