how fight back against the surge meme

the MSM has declared the surge a success, as if it corrected every prior problem in Iraq. One small problem: the war was waged illegally, killed over 100000 Iraqis, decimated a 1st world country, killed over 4000 US troops and wounded over 40000, cost this country over $500 billion in pure debt that will be paid back by today's 8 yr olds, allowed Afghanistan to fall back into chaos, created immeasurable volatility in the middle east and in petrol prices, eroded civil liberties, damaged American diplomatic abilities globally, weakened substantially the military's ability to respond to international incidents, enriched Big Oil while bankrupting domestic aviation and automobile companies, further increased dependence on foreign oil, and shit all over the Constitution and the rule of law.

By what measure is the War in Iraq successful?

Thomas Paine once wrote, "Give me liberty, or give me death. "

At our current pace, death seems almost preferable to the atrocities we have allowed to happen the past 7+ years.
