8. This Is A Seat To Grab in 2006
Word is Hyde will retire after the election...Bunnypants win or lose and this could open things up in that district.

The demographics of that district have changed over the past decade (despite moving more GOOPs into this district to protect the heavy Chicago districts to the east)...it's not the bastion of DuPage County Repugnicanism it once was.

The local party is fractured between the old guard of Pate Phillip and the Conservatives who have taken control of the party for now. There's also a growing Hispanic population and well as many Chicagoans moving out into the area.

There's no real "heir apparent" in this district and Hyde has seen his winning percentages go down over the last decade (he used to draw mid to high 60s). He'll probably finish with around 55 or less this time...and change is coming.

If you're interested in a race next door that is very winnable, I suggest you check out www.melissabean.com...she's running against Phil Crane in the 8th district...came close to knocking this corporate dead-weight out in 2002 and we're working hard to surprise a lot of people come November.

Cheers!
