There was almost no mention of environmental protection during the debates, nor mention of energy policy - especially troublesome considering we are in the midst of a regional struggle/quagmire in the heart of our energy resources.

For those who don't know, Kerry's has amassed one of the most impressive environmental records in the Senate's history. That is not an exagerration. Unfortunately, the issue has not had the immediacy of terrorism and joblessness. Which is a shame, because I would put the environment as one of the issues Kerry feels most passionately about.

There is a possibility that we have the roots of a virtual revolution in American energy production/consumption in the next four years, and the strongest environmental protection in U.S. history.

President Kerry would not only go to a global summit on the environment, there is a real chance that the United States could even host that summit. As the Rio Summit was the place Kerry first wooed Teresa, a New York Summit would make for a nice second honeymoon for the two environmentalists.

On the other hand, Kerry could turn his back on his 20 year Senate record, and his 30 year environmental record, and fall into the pockets of Big Oil.
