Amnesty: Israeli law 'institutionalizes racial discrimination'
Advertisements [?]
Amnesty International on Tuesday strongly criticized as "institutionalizing racial discrimination" an Israeli law which bars Israeli citizens who are married to Palestinians from the territories, from living with their spouses in Israel.

The human rights organization said in a report that the Citizenship and Entry into Israel Law, which is due for review at the end of the month, denies thousands of Palestinians "their fundamental right to live as a family."

In an report Amnesty released on Tuesday, entitled Torn Apart: Families split by discriminatory policies, the organization calls on Israel to repeal the law on family unification.

"The Citizenship and Entry into Israel Law institutionalizes racial discrimination contravening international human rights and humanitarian law. Without the right to family unification, thousands of Palestinian citizens of Israel and Jerusalem residents can either have their spouse live with them illegally, in daily fear of expulsion, or the whole family must leave the country," Amnesty International said.

Wonder how long it'll take for someone to appear with a 'Israeli-Arabs support racist law' thread? ;)
