Yes, we the people DO have the right to define or redefine rights. The old "can't yell fire in a crowded theater" comes to mind. Somehow your views, and you have every right to them, don't fit my understanding of a forum for progressive Democrats. I've argued with gun zealots like you for over 30 years. I'm not going to change and you're not going to change. But I shudder to think of living in a nation where everyone is allowed to accumulate as many arms ("arms" includes grenades, stinger missiles, and all other military weaponry by the way) as they want in their quest to keep the government at bay.

And excuse me for inserting a little reality here, but please explain how in hell you think the government could disarm America? Who would do the disarming, the Army? Hardly. They would have to shoot and kill millions of pissed off gun owners. Do you know of any organization that would be willing to shoot millions of fellow Americans?
