An instructor teaching an anatomy class in the science building called campus security just after 11 a.m. after Zaccagni displayed erratic behavior, Barrett said.

“He was seen in anatomy class and he had a scalpel in his hands and was gesturing to his throat a little bit,” Barrett said. “It alarmed the instructor to the point that the instructor notified us.”

Zaccagni told reporters before his arraignment that he forgot the gun was in his coat pocket. He said another student when picking up his coat at the end of class felt the handgun.

He said that during a class on Monday, he conducted a power point presentation about anti-gun control laws and urged students to join the National Rifle Association. He claimed he has been around firearms for most of his life, and admitted he did not have a permit to own the gun found by campus security.

No concealed carry on campus
