This is really nothing new, they destroy crops, kill farm animals, and otherwise make a nuisance of themselves. Now, this is not to say that they should all be shot and exterminated, we did that once in the lower 48 and we're just now trying to reintroduce them. But it's important to understand why practices like this exist. If you're a farmer and some wolves are destroying your livelihood are you going to want to take good care of the wolves? Probably not. More than likely you're gonna want them dead.
