This fight is already *on*, and I'm not the one who started it. It is the courts that have brought forth the possibility of real gay marriage. It's also the right thing to do.

If gay marriage causes Democrats to get slaughtered in several areas of the country, it will be because they argued the issue poorly and lost, not because they shouldn't have argued the case at all.

It is an appalling shame that the major Democrats are simply afraid to take a leadership role on what is a major matter of civil rights. They'd rather pander to bigots to increase their electoral chances.

Gay rights will never be handed to me on a platter by the conservatives. And moderate Democrats will *always* tell me that it "costs too many votes."
