We have quite a few DLP projectors at work and the bulbs go out on a pretty regular basis and are quite expensive. As far as how that will factor in to your total cost, I'm not sure.

Newer plasma TVs are also much more energy efficient than older models, but you can still get wide variances between energy use on LCDs and Plasma TV models, so it's certainly worthwhile to check the energy consumption and figure that into your overall cost.
