Yesterday there was a tax levy on the ballot to fund the Montgomery county metro parks. There was also a levy on the ballot to fund the Montgomery county public libraries. Dayton, Ohio and the surrounding suburbs pretty much makes up Montgomery county. Both levies passed with over 70% approval. The public library levy was very important because without it they would have had to discontinue some services. I think they were even contemplating shutting down a couple of branches because of cuts in state funding. I have a sister who works for the library, so this was personally important to me, too.

Knowledge and recreation for everyone. You can't beat that.

Also, in my little corner of the Dayton area, Miami Township, we approved a levy for the garbage man. We're a regular culture of enlightenment here in Dayton.
