Years ago the local library wrote me a letter saying that my card would be revoked if I didn't clean the books before I returned them. Then I found out that the children's librarian had been hassling my then 9 year old daughter about a book that was falling to pieces before she ever took it out. I was driving a used Suburban school bus at the time, so I guess they figured we were fair targets. Since then, I've been driving 10 miles to go to the better library in the next county.
