Miracles do happen - Evita allowed someone other than ME to pet her

I was absolutely shocked I tell ya.

Evita has to be the most difficult cat you'll ever met, but then again the poor girl had to live 3 years on the mean streets of Dover, DE until she was trapped and I, against my better judgement, adopted her.

After 2 years of co-existing in the same home with her, she has finally allowed me to pet her although I have to be sitting on the sofa and she'll be on the back of the sofa. She once has cuddled a few minutes with me on the sofa but that hasn't happened again.

So my parents were visiting on Sunday and as usually both Evita and Abbott hid. But Abbott is pretty slow, so I grabbed him, gave him to my stepfather and within 2 minutes Abbott was purring up a storm.

So I guess Evita was curious about what was happening, came out of hiding and jumped up on her usual spot on the back of the sofa and would you believe my stepfather had her purring too.

She has never done that - she hates everyone, me she just tolerates.

This was a major breakthrough for her!
