4. It's getting interesting
First off, I never ever wanted to see Angela again. Vincent doesn't bother me, other than the fact that he seems to have a mild delusional personality disorder. Having them back made everyone else pissed off, so it made for some good drama. Even Uli was dissing Angela! However, there was no way either of them was going to win, so it ended up being irrelevant. Angela's dress was perhaps the most hideous thing I've ever laid eyes on. And stuffing her extra fabric in the purse was so lame!! Vincent got a bit of a raw deal with the model change, but that wasn't a winning dress regardless.

Kayne's cocktail dress was reasonable compared to his usual fare, but he didn't really meet the challenge. We knew he'd be gone before the end, but I'm not sure he deserved to be auf'ed for that particular outfit. I also don't think Michael was trying to undermine Kayne; he was correct that the vinyl belt and boots Kayne was originally going to go with were too tacky.

I didn't really care too much for any of the cocktail dresses. Laura and Michael's were the best, though I probably wouldn't buy either of them. Maybe because they were too young looking, but I guess that was the point.

The contest is getting good. Everyone remaining has some issue to overcome at this point.

Laura wowed the judges last night and showed them she can step out of her comfort zone. She'll need to resist the urge to revert to her "old lady" style to maintain her edge. I think she can do it, but we'll see. Her dress was better than Michael's; it was more elaborate and detailed. Michael's was just a simple sheath with an asymmetrical neckline, and I felt he didn't fully meet the challenge by doing a purely white dress with a black belt. (After all, they kicked off Kayne for only using a white ribbon.) But he created a nice (if safe) head to toe look.

I think Michael's problem is lack of innovation. He does consistently good work, puts together nice outfits, but he almost always comes in second to one of the others who did something more creative. He seems to play it a little safe. Michael will be in the top three, but can he win? I think he'll need to show some more creativity to pull it off. That or the others will auf themselves by getting too wacky, leaving Michael and his solid clothes the last man standing.

Uli has now been repeatedly told that she needs to stop doing the same dress every week. She won't win unless she too can show some innovation, as lovely as her dresses are.

Jeffrey's cocktail dress was my least favorite of all his outfits (except for Angela's mom's dress, but that one is hard to count). I can imagine that young women in LA going to parties might indeed dress like that, but whether on the runway or the streets of LA, it is still a tacky look. Jeffrey's challenge is now to break out of his rock n' roll mold and do something more elegant. Based on his paper dress, I think he is capable of it, if he listened to the judges critique. I wasn't sure what Michael Kors was trying to say when he said Jeffrey was all "Gwen Stefani" every week. After all, Gwen Stefani has a very successful clothing line, which any designer would love to emulate. Maybe he was saying the clothes were too derivative, yet Jeffrey has won twice now for being "fresh" and "innovative".

So, who will win? I'm not sure. Uli and Jeffrey will have all have to think outside their personal style, and Laura and Michael will have to be more daring. I think any one of them could win, depending on what they do with the next challenges.
