Until the comment was made they were doing better than quite a few of the boys.
(Edited to add-if this woman wants her son to play for the local HS someday she'd better get him used to losing right now. My old high school is one of their biggest rivals and we tend to take the district nearly every year. We used to make fun of this HS's football team. Their basketball and track programs are well regarded but not football.)
