I bought a refurbished one with full warranty for less than half the original price and it's been very good.

Before the Dyson, I bought a couple of cheaper vacuums (like under $100) and they'd fall apart after a few months. So, I figured I'd save money in the long run if I got something more durable. (and, yes, I do all the vacuuming at home - I don't think my wife would know how to switch it on)

It's very easy to use and does an excellent overall job. Though, a few times the roller on the bottom has gotten stuck with too much hair in it - the downside of living with two females with very long straight hair.
