99. I had a conversation with a genuine Stalinist a couple of years ago.
I'm firmly on the left, but this guy was so left me made me look downright fascistic. He actually advocated "purging" tens of millions of Americans both as a method of population control, and to achieve political dominance by eradicating those who disagreed with his political opinions. He had a very scary argument that those who "speak against the people" are a disease that cannot be allowed to spread, and must therefore be killed before infecting others.
It would have been a very effective lampooning of the old Soviet Union if it weren't for the fact that he was 100% serious. One of the more interesting aspects of working on a college campus is that I get to meet ALL KINDS of interesting people.
