System Of A Down. I'm not a metal fan (own a couple Metallica CDs and an Ozzy CD - and not much else,) and especially dislike nu-metal. But I enjoy System Of A Down.

Cheyenne Kimball and Brie Larson. I'm a big fan of pop/rock, loving Avril Lavigne, Michelle Branch, The Veronicas, The Faders, Guster, Nina Gordon, Leslie Mills, Bree Sharp, All American Rejects, Susan Cagle, The Jayhawks, Green Day (if you call it pop/rock,) The Corrs, The Like, Saving Jane, Pink, Halo Friendlies, Tuuli, New Pornographers, Some Girls, Lillix, and Lisa Loeb among others. But I thought these 15-year-old singers would water down pop even more than Ashlee Simpson, Jessica Simpson, Hilary Duff, and Lindsay Lohan did. Not so - these two teenagers impressed me. Not childlike like Emma Roberts, either.

Damone. When I heard they were bringing back 80s hair metal, I had my doubts. But it's much more than that, and their CD Out Here All Night is one of my favorites of 2006!

Sigur Ros. Thought they would be pretentious, but they make beautiful music.

Carrie Underwood. I was a Bo fan, but Carrie surprisingly made the better album. Some Hearts is not great, but it's tasteful pop/country.

The Fray - Was worried they'd be like newer Live and Nickelback, but they provide good soft rock.

I might think of more later, but I'm just posting this for now.
